Happy National Running Day 2014! While I have been taking a break from full time running due to injuries, running will always have a place in my life. This year I realize how much I prefer and enjoy exercising outside (after so much cross training in the gym). Here in Florida there are many beautiful routes to run, including sunset runs on the beach. I also miss the rolling hills, the constant ups and downs of Cincinnati.
While I may never run constantly throughout the whole year again, I am already planning my comeback race. Wes and I will be in Cincinnati for Thanksgiving this year so we are going to sign up for one of my favorites, the Cincinnati Thanksgiving Day Race. I love running through the city and over the bridges to Kentucky and back. The 10k will be the start of our training for the Naples Half Marathon in January (which will be my eleventh)!
Finally, I have to give a shout out to my friend Kara who introduced me to the idea of running and cross country back in high school. Not only was she my first running buddy, she has been a reliable friend, my first visitor in Naples, and I am honored to be one of her bridesmaids in November!
Now, I won’t be getting a run in today due to travel, however I will be waking up in Cincinnati and may just have to put a few miles in around the westside :)
